Bantam Reps Battle To Bronze In Glencoe Tourney
Submitted By Chris Johnson on Sunday, October 25, 2009
In four rough and tough games over Saturday and Sunday the Bantam Reps showed that they have a lot of character and heart. All four games were edge of your seat hockey. Starting off with a very big, physical, fast team from Lucan. Followed up by the hometown Glencoe IceCats, where the "Cats" showed their claws but the "Dogs" bite was what counted in the end. The next game pited our "DOGS" against a very tenacious Dresden team......

GAME #1 ICE DOGS vs LUCAN : We knew from the opening face-off that Lucan was going to be a tough game. They were a big team and a fast team. But never say never.....Just 19 seconds in, they snuck one past us and that pretty much set the tone for this game. Final Score LUCAN 4 - BCH 0

GAME #2 ICE DOGS vs GLENCOE ICE CATS : This game started off as a physical end to end game with Foster making key saves to keep the "DOGS" in it in the 1st. During the 2nd is when the "CLAWS" came out and the Ice Cats got into penalty trouble. On the ensuing powerplay Tyler E. jammed one home from Connor. But the "Cats" still wouldn't go away as they retaliated with a shorthanded goal. The teams battled for a couple more minutes until Devon S. on a pass from Luke F. sprung Tyler M. loose and Tyler made no mistake burrying it giving us the lead. The 3rd saw us get in some penalty trouble but the team rose to the occasion. After the penalties were killed, Keith S. finished the game at 1:36 of the 3rd with an empty netter. Final Score BCH 3 - Glencoe 1

Game #3 ICEDOGS vs DRESDEN JR. KINGS :This was a BIG game as our DOGS had to win to be in the bronze medal game. And it was a nail biter!!!This was a game that saw both teams in control... and both teams scrambling!!!! Foster came up big the first half of this game when he was called upon. Our Dogs tried to capitalize but the Dresden goalie was up to the task. It wasn't until the 4:40 mark of the 3rd that Brett J. took a feed from Tyler M. that we got on the board. For a couple minutes after the Dogs got into a defensive "SHELL" trying to hold the lead. On a last ditch effort to knot the affair with 35 seconds left, Dresden was looking to feed their player with the big CANNON...and they did....T.J. flashed the glove!!!GAME OVER!!!Final Score BCH 1 - Dresden 0

Game #4 Bronze Medal Game ICEDOGS vs WEST LORNE :Once again this was another back and forth...end to end game! Both teams came out wanting it...battling for every inch of ice.It was INTENSE until the 5:14 mark of the 2nd when Brett J. took a pass from Connor L. and Matt M. and made no mistake putting it five hole on the W.Lorne goalie. But that was just the beginning as just a couple minutes later W.Lorne tied it up at one. Both teams battled hard with equal chances at both ends in the 3rd,but this was a goaltenders battle from beginning to end.And in this tourney they skipped the formalities of playing an OT period...Straight to the Shoot-Out!!! After a couple of shooters for each team and the goalies standing their ground Devon S. took his shot and roofed a beautiful shot to give the Dogs the edge!!!Its all up to TJ,the West Lorne player came in and made a quick move but it didn't fool TJ as he kicked out his right leg and made a BEAUTIFUL pad save to win the game. Final Score BCH 2 - West Lorne 1
