The BCH Novice Rep team took home the consolation trophy at the West-Grey Rep Tournament in Ayton on January 19th.
It was a slow start to the first game, with a tough loss to Collingwood who later went on to win the tournament. The team went into their second game against Mount Forest with great enthusiasm and energy after some locker room strategizing with their coaches and belting out their theme songs “Who Let The Dogs Out” and “Sweet Caroline”.
The second game was very well matched and hard fought! Our BCH goalie blocked what would have been the tying shot in the last 5 seconds of the game to finish with a score of 2-1.
The crowd erupted into applause as the team rushed the goalie and celebrated their well deserved win. This win put the Ice Dogs on high alert for the final game against Tavistock.
The players were excited but exhausted going into the third game of their first full-ice tournament in their careers.
But with some grit and determination, excellent coaching, and enthusiastic cowbell, they pulled through another 2-1 win.
