Local hockey players heading to Europe with elite team

Megan Johnston and Sierra Burt have been chosen for the East Coast Selects girls hockey team, and are heading to Europe in the spring for an international tournament.

Early Saturday morning was a battle of the dogs in Hensall, as Blyth/Brussels Bulldogs paid a visit. These two teams had not met since the 1st game of the season. Once again BCH played a strong team game coming out with a 8 - 0 victory.

Wednesday night saw the Mitchell Meteors fly in to the comfy confines of the Bayfield arena looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Dogs. After a slow start the Icedogs prevailed by a 7-2 score.

Junior Tyke - A Busy Weekend

The Jr. Tykes had a busy weekend playing 3 games. The first, Friday night, was our second of a home and away against South Huron 2. The team played another excellent defensive game against a strong offensive S.H. team to come up with a 3-3 tie. On Saturday we travelled to Wingham. The players put forth an excellent effort winning 8-0. On Sunday S.H. 1 came to play in Clinton. Although the team played well they lost a close one 2-1 to finish off the weekend 1-1-1.

I can't believe it is the end of January already. Watching the Novice Local #2 play over the past few months has been very rewarding. I can not believe the improvements that each player has made. A very special thanks to all the Coaches for the pep talks in between ice time and the positive reinforcement that everyone recieved after each, game win or loose!

This past Sunday theTyke team played an excellent game against a strong South Huron Team, and with solid defence and goaltending ended the game with a 1 -1 draw. Our lone goal was scored by Even Langendoen. The rematch is scheduled for Friday night in Exeter. Go Ice Dogs!
