St Mary's AE Tournament Champions
Submitted By Tom Williscraft on Monday, October 21, 2019
The Bantam AE's had a great weekend in claiming the 13th Annual St Mary's Rock Bantam AE Tournament Championship.  The first game Friday was a 2-2 tie with South Huron that was a great defensive battle.

Game 2 was a 2-1 loss to St Mary's.  This game was a great character building game as BCH peppered the St Mary's goalie throughout the 3rd period bit could not score the equalizer.  The loss made Saturday's tilt a must win game vs Tillsonburg if the tournament was to continue for us.  It was a tight affair in the first period with both sides having scoring chanced but BCH emerged with a 1-0 lead after the first.  The boys came out firing in the 2nd and opened up a 4-0 lead.  Great defence in the 3rd led the Dogs to a 5-0 victory.  The semi final was an epic defensive battle and both goalies made many saves to keep it tight.  BCH scored the first goal early in the 2nd period.  Collingwood tied it 1-1 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd to force 3 on 3 overtime.  Collingwood pushed hard at the start of overtime but Blake held firm in goal keeping BCH alive.  A beautiful passing play from Anderson to Klomps on a 2 on 1 would be the winning goal with 40 seconds left in overtime sending us to the finals vs South Huron. In the Championship Game South Huron got on the board half way through the first period scoring what was the only goal in the first stanza.   The tight defence continued until C Wilson got BCH on the board with 18 seconds left in the 2nd frame.  South Huron had several chances early in the 3rd period but Williscraft held firm in the pipes giving BCH a chance to get rolling and roll they did! Wilson added his 2nd of the game followed by Allen to make it 3-1.  Cam Smith added an insurance marker to stretch the lead to 4-1 with 3:34 left in the 3rd.  South Huron added their 2nd goal of the game on the power play with just under 2 minutes remaining.  South Huron pulled their goalie and had several scoring chances in the final 2 minutes but could not beat Williscraft again giving BCH a 4-2 victory and a gold medal.
