The BCH Bantam AE IceDogs participated in the regional Silver Stick in St.Clements this weekend.  The local boys represented themselves very well.

The IceDogs where on the road early Friday morning for a tilt with the local Twin Centre Stars. The two teams were very evenly matched and played to a scoreless draw in the first period. In the second BCH was able to break the deadlock on a nice goal by Jake C. who received a beautiful pass from Nick M. The remainder of the game was back and forth with each team having several great scoring opportunities.  Icedogs goalie Adrian M was stellar in net and came away with the shutout in a 1-0 BCH victory.  A total team effort secured them 7 points and some relaxation time before their next game .

Up next in game 2 was the Mooretown Storm. Just like the first match these teams were evenly matched thru 2 plus periods, before the Storm snuck one in for a 1-0 lead. The Dogs tried desperately to get the equalizer but where denied. Once again the team played well from the goaltender out and collected 2 points for their effort.  There was some talk that maybe coach Smith(who missed the first game) was the bad luck charm.

After a good nights sleep and a more reasonable noon hour game time the Dogs took the ice against Ayr Flames in a must win situation for both teams. As in there previous matches Ayr and BCH played a very competitive  and enjoyable game to watch.  The IceDogs won the 1st Period 1-0 on an unassisted marker by Jake C.  Not to be outdone Ayr evened the score early in the 2nd frame. But true to form the Icedogs dug a little deeper and Jake C.  notched the go ahead goal and tied the period.  Now it was nailbiting time as BCH needed to hold on for the victory in order to try and collect enough points to advance.  As was their ritual all tournament all 13 Dogs sacrificed their bodies and whatever else they needed to in order to succeed. There was a huge sigh of relieve heard from the bench as the final horn sounded to mark a 2-1 BCH victory.  Great Job Boys.

Having completed their mission all they could do was wait and see if 16 points would get them to the Semi-Finals. As it turned out 16 point earned them a tie for second with Lincoln. Unfortunately for the local boys the 2nd tiebreaker was goals for and Lincoln won 8-3. It was a bit disappointing as the team only allowed 2 goals against the entire tournament.

The coaching staff was very happy and impressed with how well you competed against BB- CC level teams.  Keep your heads up and be proud of what you accomplished this weekend and use this experience as we move forward. You represented BCH Minor Hockey very well on and off the ice.
