Volunteer (BCH Ice Dogs Minor Hockey)

To encourage all BCH Minor Hockey Association members to become actively involved in the operation and success of our Association.

The BCH Minor Hockey Association (BCH) has a membership of approximately 260 players between the ages of 5 and 18 years old assigned to 17 teams playing over 330 scheduled games.  There are over 816 hours of ice and over 600 hours of referee time used by BCH each season. Many of our Association members are unaware of just how much volunteer work and fundraising is necessary to operate the entire BCH hockey program.

Although not everyone has the hockey experience and skills necessary to volunteer for on-ice roles, there are other roles that contribute to the success of our Association, including organizing tournaments, program coordination, special committees/projects, and fundraising opportunities.  The volunteer bond program has been introduced to encourage Association members to get involved and to keep registration fees as low as possible.

Volunteer Hours Required:

All Divisions:  5 hours/family NOTE: This is subject to change at the time of registration

These hours are required to fulfill each family’s volunteer bond obligations per season.

Volunteer team positions that fulfill a families obligation are Coach, Assistant Coach, Trainer, Manager, Sweater REP, and Parent REP.

Please note that game day door hours and game sheets are not considered volunteer hours. **Special consideration will be given if a family or two agrees to do the door and/or the game sheets for the entire season**.

In addition to these opportunities there will be as needed opportunities posted on the BCH website and Facebook page and will be filled on a “first come first serve basis”. It is your responsibility to check these postings. As needed opportunities will include fundraising days, BCH days, tournaments, registration and the banquet.

Value of Bond

$200.00 per family.

******Note: Family members who may volunteer can include parents and grandparents.

Older BCH players are able to fulfill their own volunteer hours. BCH administration will sign off on this as part of their high school obligations for volunteer hours. This does not include being on the ice to assist with drills for their younger siblings teams*********

Please be sure to check the website & Facebook for Volunteer Opportunities
