Ice Dog Day Afternoon Supports the Durham Tornado Relief Fund
Submitted By showe on Saturday, September 26, 2009
BCH Minor hockey was proud to present the "2nd Annual Ice Dog Day Afternoon" on Saturday, September 26, 2009. This afternoon of hockey featured BCH Rep teams hosting Seaforth's Rep teams in support of the Durham Tornado Relief Fund.   Seaforth took 3 of the 4 games, including a win by the Stars' Bantam Rep team 5-4 in a shootout over BCH.  It was a great day for hockey and the BCH and Seaforth Communities came to the aid of our neighbours in Durham.

We have all witnessed the damage from the tornado that whipped through Durham, ON on Thursday, August 20, 2009.  The damage to homes, schools, arenas and businesses was so extensive that a state of emergency was declared.  It was announced this past week that it will be 6 months to a year before the victims of this natural disaster would get any assistance from the Government.

The Mount Forest Rams have set out a challenge to all of their surrounding centres in the WOAA to donate $500.  The BCH Minor Hockey executive has decided to match this donation.  For every dollar that is donated to the Durham Relief Fund the government will match it 2 to 1.

We would appreciate any support that you can contribute!
