Bantam Rep Advance to OMHA Semi Finals!
After sweeping South Huron in the preliminary OMHA round, the BCH Bantam Rep team met Blenheim in the OMHA quarter finals. This weekend, Feb 11, 12, and 13, BCH Bantam Rep advanced to the OMHA semi finals by clinching a three-game sweep with the Blenheim Rep Team.
The first game was won 5-0 on Friday night at the Clinton arena. The boys maintained a well disciplined, group effort to keep the puck in the opposing team's end for most of the game. And, wow, Blenheim's goalie is to be commended for saving so many shots as he faced a great deal of them!!
The second game had the team travelling to Blenheim for a team supper of pasta at 3 pm., then off to the arena for the game. Again, the team dominated with most of the action taking place in Blenheim's end. The Ice Dogs captured the win, 4-0, and headed for home and a bit of a well deserved rest. The next game would be Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
The third game was played in Hensall and we saw a scrappy character come out of the Blenheim team. The Dogs quickly grew frustrated, and the game became a penalty filled affair. There were even a few tense moments with only 3 Dogs on the ice to defend against their powerplay. By the third period, Blenheim had scored a couple, and the game was tied 2-2. But, with only a few minutes left, the Dogs led a beautiful breakout passing spree and the go ahead goal brought the crowd to a frenzy. Now, it was all defense and puck hogging to kill the remaining 1 min and a half. The Dogs tried a couple of times to get an empty netter, which didn't work out, but the Ice Dogs captured a 3-2 win -- and swept the series!
Congratulations, boys, for some very good hockey this weekend and we can hardly wait to see you face the next challenge together! Its going to be either Mount Forest or Dunnville. Keep working hard!!
