Bantam Rep Sweep Bill Batten Tournament
Continuing their recent string of league play wins, the Bantam Rep Ice Dogs travelled to Exeter to take part in South Huron's 22nd Annual Bill Batten Tournament on Sunday November 7.
The Dogs opened the tournament facing South Huron, and taking the play to the Sabres in the first period, they opened up a quick two goal lead. But South Huron wasn't going to roll over and stepped up the physical play, eventually scoring a goal. However, the Dogs persevered, maintaining a 2-1 lead to the end of the game.
The second game found the Dogs facing a bigger Mount Brydges Cougars team. With a stronger team effort, the Dogs kept up the pressure on the quick skating Cougars throughout the game, leading to a 3-1 win and qualifying for the tournament final. Kudos to Joe for another hat trick!
South Huron managed to finish the Tournament's round robin in second place, setting up a re-match with the Dogs for the tournament championship game. This time, the Dogs took the physical play to the Sabres from start to finish, leading to a decisive 3-0 shutout and the tournament win!
With the Bill Batten Tournament championship win, the Bantam Rep Ice Dogs improved their season record to 14 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie. Keep up the hard work Dogs!
