Golden Days for PeeWee Rep
Following their OMHA win on Saturday, the PeeWee Rep IceDogs returned to the ice to play the WOAA finals versus Mitchell.
The Mitchell Meteors had home ice advantage for this first game on Sunday, March 27 of the best of 3 series. However, the IceDogs dominated the entire game still on a high from winning OMHA gold and won game one with a score of 5 goals to 1. Way to go Holdyn on your hat trick.
Game two was in Hensall on Wednesday, March 30 and in front of the home crowd, the Dogs won the WOAA - two golden titles in less than one week! The Meteors played a strong first period, stopping the Dogs from scoring at every shot and the period ended with double zeros. In the second, Holdyn found the back of the net three times giving him a second hat trick of the series. Dave put in goal 4 from outside the blue with one of his powerful slapshots after hitting the crossbar twice earlier in the game. And the final goal was scored on a penalty shot by Mitch after being denied on a breakaway by a thrown stick. Final score 5 - 0.
Awesome job Dogs and congrats to the team on playing with the usual strong contribution by all. A great way to end the season with two golden titles! Coaches and players alike should be proud of this amazing accomplishment!
