Third One's a Charm
Congrats to the PeeWee Rep for their third clean sweep of the OMHA playdowns. They won the semi finals versus the Dunnville Rivertown Flyers in three games and now advance to the OMHA finals!
Family Day, Monday, February 21 in Dunnville, was the stage for the first game of the OMHA semi finals of Rivertown Flyers versus the IceDogs. Dunnville scored early in the first on a breakaway goal, but BCH answered back and scored shortly there after. The game remained tied at 1 apiece till the end of the 2nd period. Beginning of the 3rd, the Dogs came out strong and scored two back to back goals. Dunnville wasn't ready to give up however, and scored their second goal making it a 3 -2 lead for the Dogs. In the final moments of the game, the Rivertown Flyers pulled their goalie but the Dogs were able to hold the Flyers back and kill off the remaining time. BCH led the series 1 game to none.
Game two was on home ice in Hensall on Saturday, February 26. The IceDogs were able to put one in the net each period and win the game with a score of 3 to 0. There were some tense moments in the second, when we were on the short side of a 5 on 3, but the Dogs did a great job of killing the penalty time.
On Sunday, February 27, the BCH IceDogs traveled back to Dunnville for game three. The Rivertown Flyers came out strong and determined as they were in a "do or die" situation. At the end of the first, the Dogs were down 2 goals to none. In the second period, the IceDogs found their stride and began to play their game. We got one goal but the Flyers were not ready to give up their two goal lead and answered back with one of their own and the period ended 3 - 1 in favour of the Flyers. The beginning of the third, the Dogs came out on fire! We scored three goals and won the game 5 to 3.
Congrats to both the players and coaches on an amazing ride thus far through the OMHA playdowns! Kudos to the players for their determination and hard work especially when we were down on the scoreboard. Special thanks to our affiliated players for doing "double duty" and helping us out! Good luck in the finals where the IceDogs will come up against either the Ennismore Eagles or the Twin Centre Stars.
