Novice Rep Take Series in 4 Games
The Novice Rep had to fight a battle against the Teeswaer Otters, but ended up on the right side of the win column when the game ended.
After such a decisive win at the series opener, the Ice Dogs took a lot of confidence into the next three games. However, the Otters need to be commended on a very well-fought series. The fourth game was packed with action at both ends. The game sheet remained empty until the third period, when Mack opened the scoring with an assist to Payton, after much digging and passing in front of the Otter's net. Shortly after, the Otters fought back, scoring to tie the game. With five minutes left in the third, Payton was in the right place at the right time to notch another goal, assisted by Reece and Owen. It looked like the game was in the Ice Dogs' hands, but the Otters were able to put one in the net at the face-off, with 37 seconds left to tie the game. The overtime was full of action, as the defence team of Cole, Trent, Broderick and Mitchell made many key plays to keep the puck out of our zone. Kai was able to shut the door on a couple of good shots by the Otters. Finally, with 7:00 remaining in the overtime period, Payton was able to get her stick on the puck in front of the net, and made no mistake in finding the mesh, unassisted. The Ice Dogs are looking forward to hearing who their next opponents will be, as they will take to the ice against the winner of a round-robin against Blyth, Durham and Seaforth.
