BCH shows BIG Hockey Hearts for Haiti
On Saturday, Jan 23, the
BCH Peewee Girls showed they have big hearts for those in need. After countless hours baking up a storm the goods were brought to the Clinton arena for a sale. The team comprised of 13 girls managed to earn
$584 for the Haitian people. The government will match this money dollar for dollar bringing the grand total to nearly $1200. The girls would like to thank all those who came out and supported this project to help make it such a huge success. The BCH cake raffle was won by Marion VanWyk - what a great birthday cake!!! We would also like to thank the Bantam AE boys for their $50 donation. It is greatly appreciated.
After selling goods for 4 hours the girls had to change gears and prepare for a game in Hensall. We knew it would be a tough game playing one of the best teams in the division. The Mildmay team came out strong and dominated most of the game but the girls need to be commended for excellent work and determination in the defensive zone. With more physical play and the “never quit” attitude we only allowed 1 goal in the third and created most of our scoring opportunities in the third period as well. This team has not won on the scoreboard but there willingness to learn, determination during games and their fantastic spirit make them true champions. You girls ought to be proud of yourselves!
