Atom Girls Split Two Weekend Exhibition Games
On Friday, Nov. 20th, our first of two weekend exhibition games was held at Bayfield against the visiting South Huron Sabres. The coaches had a shortened bench and our two lines worked very hard to keep up the pace of the quicker Sabres who rapidly scored 3 goals at the beginning of the first period.
Most of the first game's action took place in our zone making the Ice Dogs feel the pressure all the time. Despite being down 4 goals after the first, the girls kept trying hard for the second period with a determined effort to score. Jet picked up a pair of goals to get us on the scoreboard...unfortunately, the Sabres were just too much to handle and the game finished off with a score of 9-2. Kudos to Justice who stopped a lot of shots, even a superb diving one to cover the loose puck!
November 21's exhibition game took place in Clinton with a visiting team from Ilderton/Lucan. The visiting Jets were a good match for us and the action was definitely more competitive. After a few minutes, the Ice Dogs were keeping fairly good control of the puck and the defence was doing a great job holding the puck in the Jets' zone. This allowed our forwards to keep attacking over and over. Congrats to our Jet who picked up a hat trick plus one for the team. Also scoring were Joleen from Jenna and Leah unassisted. The girls never gave up and kept attacking for the puck all the way through the game. Way to go team!
