Tough Loss For Dogs

The Dogs showed a valiant effort but came away with a 8-0 loss to the hands of Milverton on Saturday morning. The kids started out pretty well in this game, trailing by only a goal with five minutes remaining in the first.
Then in a three minute letdown, we found ourselves down 4-0 with two minutes to go in the period. With two or three kids now showing the effects of the flu we had to rearrange our lines moving forwards back to defence to try and get our strength back. This seemed to work out well as we only allowed one goal and we finished the second period down 5-0. We went to the dressing room to regroup, but the flu bug had taken its toll and we reurned for the third with seven skaters. An injury to one of our defencemen with about ten minutes remaining and some penalty trouble left us down to six skaters and eventually the game was called for curfew. I am really impressed with the way the guys stepped up and covered positions they have never been familiar with before, that is true team spirit guys well done. To Doug way to stick in there and make them big saves even with the game out of reach, you played the whole game as if it was 0-0 and that is incredible, as we were probably outshot about 35 to 10. We will look at making some minor changes at practice to teach everyone all positions in case this happens again. Once again guys keep your heads up high, that was some great TEAM WORK out there.
