Atom AE Mystery Baffles Scotland Yard
On Tuesday March 16, under cover inspectors from Scotland Yard traveled to Milverton to investigate the BCH Atom AE Icedogs. As previously reported the Icedogs are suddenly tearing up the competition and inspector McSlapshot and inspector O’Glovesave were dispatched to solve the mystery. Tuesday night’s game was of significant importance. If the Icedogs could win it would represent the longest win streak of the year (3 in a row), their first win in a series, and first birth in a final. The stakes were huge and the law was in the building.
The first period started a little slow for the Icedogs, but at the 7 minute mark Clay struck first for the Icedogs. Clay would score again and Sam would pot a third (assisted by Clay) before the end of the period. There were some shaky moments but the Icedogs picked it up in the second period getting goals from Cory (assist by Jonny) and 2 more from Clay (assists from Jonny and Cory). There were great efforts away from the puck as well…several big saves by Alex, terrific back checking by all the forwards, and solid performances by the entire defense at both ends of the ice. Well done team!!
When asked if they had come to any conclusions on what might be causing this radically consistent and highly effective effort from the team, inspectors McSlaphot and O’Glovesave suggested that the investigation was ongoing and they couldn’t reveal any details. However, unnamed sources close to the investigation, suggested that the duo from Scotland Yard were close to cracking the case. “There has been an unusually high level of hard skating”, suggested one insider. Another was quoted as saying, “This team is skating and passing…very unusual.” Yet another observation from inside the investigation… “these players seem to want the puck more than their opponents, and they are prepared to work at getting it and keeping it!!”
According to the investigation team, more observation is required. Happily, they will get the chance when BCH Atom AE takes on the winner of a series between Howick, Listowel and Saugeen Shores. Way to go Icedogs!!
