Atom AE Strikes First in OMHA Playoffs
On Thursday Jan 20 the BCH Atom AE Icedogs traveled to Tavistock to play the Titans in their first game of the OMHA playdowns.
The Icedogs had not played against Tavistock during the regular season so players and coaches were excited to get to it. After a 25 minute delay (no referees), the game finally got underway and it was clear that it was going to be a pretty even match. The play was fast paced with chances at both ends of the ice. The Icedogs were able to control the game for stretches, but then spent too many tense moments scrambling in their own end. The lone goal of the game came in the first, when Kole V. took a nice feed from Brooke S. and found the back of the Tavistock net. It would be the game winner as neither team was able to score in the rest of the game.
Special mention should made of the Icedogs goaltending and defense. The defense skated hard and moved the puck well. They battled hard to win the puck and keep it away from the front of the net. Alex M. made several clutch saves including one from in close with only one second left on the clock!
Game 2 is in Clinton at 1PM. The Icedogs were obviously excited to win the first game of the series but it is clear that they will have to continue to improve and play the best hockey they can. GOOOOO Icedogs!!!!!
