Hard Work Pays Off for ATOM AE
Submitted By Ian Siertsema on Tuesday, December 15, 2009
On Saturday Dec. 12, BCH Atom AE hosted Mitchell AE in Clinton. In two previous tilts the Icedogs were in the game but ended with losses (5-3 and 4-2). This time, the home squad was determined to “get one back”.

In the third period, the Icedogs went into overdrive. They out skated and out worked the Meteors for most of the period. The effort showed up on the scoreboard as Kole scored twice (set up by Turner) in 2 minutes. Brandon scored his second of the game 3 minutes later and suddenly the Icedogs were up 4-3!! Kole finished with a hat trick netting the game winner (Mitchell would score with 17 seconds left, but it was too little too late) with 2 minutes remaining (great set up by Luke). The final score was 5-4 Icedogs.

Although there is still a lot to work on, this was probably the teams best all around effort this year. Strong goaltending (way to go Alex), hard working defense, and forwards that hustled at both ends of the ice, made for some very exciting hockey. Let’s do it again this weekend. Atom AE hosts Howick rep on Dec 19 and travels to Zurich for their first meeting with the Lightning.

Goooooo Icegogs!!!!
