Atom Rep WOAA CC Champions
On Saturday, the Ice Dogs laced up in Clinton, to face the Mount Forest Rams, in the first game of the best of five series, vying for the WOAA CC Championship. The Dogs came out hard, and chalked up 4 goals in the first two period. With just a few minutes into the third period, the Rams came back and scored two quick goals, making the Dogs step up their game a little if they wanted to take the win. The Ice Dogs were able to secure the game with great defensive plays. Final score 4-2 BCH
Sunday had the Dogs back at it, with a road trip to Mount Forest. The Rams seemed a little more comfortable on home ice, and certainly picked up their game. At the end of the third, the score was tied at two. The Ice Dogs were prepared for overtime, as they had experienced in key games through-out the year. It didn’t take long for the dogs to bury one, winning game two 3-2.
Game three found the Ice Dogs on home turf again. Knowing that this game could clinch the championship for BCH, there were plenty of fans in the stands. The Rams came out strong and were the first to put the puck in the net. The Rams held on to their lead for quite a while, but due to determination by the Dogs, they were able to tie it up. Then the Dogs went on a scoring spree, scoring again, and again, sending them into the third period with at 5-1 lead. The Rams turned up the heat in the third period, scoring three more goals, making this a nail-biter of a game for the fans. The dogs were able to keep the Rams in check at the end of the third and scored one more insurance goal, making the final score 6-4 for BCH. BCH took the series in three straight!
The Atom Rep Ice Dogs accepted the WOAA CC Championship trophy on ice after the win. Great work team! We’re all so proud of you!
The Atom Rep Ice Dogs continue in their quest for trophies this weekend in a tournament in Mildmay, and next week begin a series with either Saugeen Shores, or Listowel to vie for the WOAA Lockridge Division Championship.
