Atom Rep Win Trophy in Overtime
The Atom Rep Ice Dogs played in the Bill Carnochan Memorial Atom Tournament in Seaforth, just before Christmas. The tournament started with a game against the Lampton Shores Predators. This team was hungry. With a great team effort by BCH, the final score of the first game of the tournament was a 3-2 Loss for BCH.
Later that afternoon, the Ice Dogs teamed up against the South Huron Sabres. The Dogs faced the Sabres only once before in the Exeter tournament in early November. The Sabres gave the Dogs quite a run, but, the Dogs took the win 1-0.
The Dogs had most of the day Sunday to rest, and headed back to the arena for a 5:15 game against the Goderich Sailors. The Dogs were keen, and out-played the Sailors, with a final score of 7-0. Winning all three periods, and taking points for the win, BCH was off to the finals.
In the final game, the Dogs would have their work cut out for them. Facing the Lampton Shores Predators again, this time vying for the trophy, they knew what they needed to do to win. It was back and forth action through-out the entire game, ending the third period in a tie, taking the game into overtime. The Dogs faced off with the Predators, into a sudden death overtime period. It only took one faceoff, and about a minute into this overtime period to decide the game. The Dogs took the win 4-3, bringing home the Bill Carnochan Memorial trophy.
What a fabulous way to start off the Christmas break!! Way to go Ice Dogs!!!
