You win some, and you lose some
This past weekend Local 2 played back to back playoff games against Listowel. In regular season we had no problem beating this team, so I don't think we were too worried about playing these guys in playoffs........but we were in for a surprise.
We last met up with Listowel on January 30th and February 6th, winning 8-2 and 6-1 respectively. Now I don't know if it was just me, but after only 14 days since we last played each other, some of these kids really improved, and had some amazing growth spurts.......?
None the less we came to play hockey.
On Feb 20th Listowel visited BCH for game 1 of the series. This was a classic game as fans were kept on the edge of their seats....if they could sit!
Period one was scoreless. The only action was a penalty for BCH and for Listowel.
In the second period Listowel scored first, but Colton was in the right spot at the right time, and put BCH on the board a few minutes later.
Listowel answered back early in the third, but Liam D. tied things up again, a few minutes later. For the next five minutes the game was tied. The BCH forwards put on the pressure and fired shots at the Listowel net any chance they could.
Near the end of the third though, Listowel found our net once more. BCH turned up the power, but it just wasn't enough, as Listowel took home the win 3-2.
On Feb 21st BCH visited Listowel, and we were looking to make up for the loss the previous day. This time, we came to win!
Listowel was the first to get on the board again with only 13 seconds left in the first period.
In the middle of period two, Jaden tied things up with an unassisted goal.
Period three was pretty intense as it was anyone's game. With only a few minutes left to play, Ethan - with the help of Reece, found the back of the Listowel net....and the BCH fans were shouting loud and proud.
Local 2 held off the strong Listowel team and skated away victorious. It was a battle - but we won 2-1.
Our forwards (Jaden, Payton, Reese, Ethan, Colton & Liam D.) gave it all they had. There was some great passing, super speedy skating, and lots of team work. A big shout out to the defense (Derrek, Brandon, Liam S., and Mac) who did what ever it took to get the puck out of our end, and heading up the ice with the forwards. And of course where would we be without the excellent goaltending by Logan. You saved the day :)
We now face our friendly rivals BCH 1 on February 23rd. It promises to be another great match up!
