Novice local 2 has officially kicked off their playoff season, with game one taking place on February 16th, against Seaforth.
Both teams have progressed well this season, and are very evenly matched. In regular season we lost one game to Seaforth and tied the other. So, this promised to be a great match.....and what a game it was.
Local 2 came on strong with Brandon, assisted by Colton, putting the puck in the net and scoring the first goal of the game. That proved to be the only goal scored in period one.
In the second period Liam D. and Ethan (assisted by Reece's Pieces) scored two more goals, giving the dogs a comfortable 3-0 lead. However, near the end of period two, Seaforth managed to put one past Logan and score their first goal of the game. Period two ended with the Dogs still leading 3-1.
In the third period things fell apart for the Dogs. Seaforth managed to find our net three more times. Local 2 put on the pressure and made some great shots on the Seaforth net, but none made their way past the goalie. The Ice Dogs put forward an excellent effort.......however it was not meant to be. Time ran out before the team could score anymore goals. The game ended with Seaforth winning 4-3.
On Friday February 19th, the Dogs visit Seaforth for game 2 in the playoff series.
Hopefully we can keep working hard and maybe get our first playoff win!
P.S. Welcome back Liam S. We are glad you are able to be with us, and finish the season with your team.
