The final showdown
On January 12th, after a small mix up with the referee's, we managed to get our last game of the season against BCH Local 1 underway. After all was said and done, the clock ran pretty much straight time, allowing us 30 minutes of game time to wrap things up.
Prior to the arrival of the ref's the two teams played a scrimmage, which saw a very close game played by both teams. Thanks to Rob for sticking around to ref for us, until the black and white's arrived.
The "real" game was a typical game for both teams. Everyone was playing their best, and both goal tenders were put through their paces. There were lots of near goals, lots of break away's, so much action and hard work...it was another suspenseful game to watch.
The forwards had to work hard to get to Local 1's net - but managed to do so and earned Local 2 a total of 4 goals. Local one tried hard to score, but Logan wasn't going to let us down. He faced lot's of break away's and lots of action around the net - but he kept things under control. With only 2 goals getting past him, we had another victory on our hands.
Now if we only could have kept #98 out of the penalty box :)....the score may have been different. It was the only penalty of the game, and a goal was scored against us while the team was short handed. It meant at one point that the score was a little to close for comfort. Great job Local 2 on killing that penalty.
Defense deserve a pat on the back for this game too. You guys worked hard to keep the puck in Local 1's end, so the forward line could sneak in and score. Although the game sheet doesn't tell the whole story, I know you guys had some assists in this game.
Way to go on another game well played.
The team has a few practices before the next game against Elma Logan on January 23rd, and only a few more games until regular season is over. Wow, where does the time go?
See you at the rink!
