A Busy Week
Novice Local 2 has been busy this week, as we had lots of ice time!
On Jan 5th the dogs visited Seaforth to face off against the Stars. The teams appeared very evenly matched, with the exception of Seaforth having a few more players than we did. This however did not deter our team.
It was a fun game to watch with another solid effort by the forwards and defence, and of course lots of puck stopping action by our goalie.
The game ended in a tie, 2-2. We fell short of the win, however last time Seaforth beat us by one goal, so this was an improvement. Unassisted goals were scored by Liam D. and Colton.
On January 7th the team met for a practice to warm up for our game on January 8th against Local 1. We again were excited to meet up with Local 1 as we know they have been practicing and getting better too. Unfortunately for Local 1, they were without their regular goalie, and it appeared a few players were missing too.
The puck dropped at 6:00 and the first period began. Both teams bantered back and forth but we eventually scored two goals in the first (Liam D assisted by Brandon & Jaden - unassisted). Local 1 also scored in the first, which kept the game close and very exciting.
Local 2 excelled in the second period as we deposited 3 more goals. Liam D., Payton (assist), Reece and Jaden (assist) showed the crowd their wheels and puck handling as they snuck the puck past the goalie.
In the third period we couldn't do much wrong. 4 more goals were scored by our usual suspects - Liam D., Colton and Ethan, and that ended the game with a score of 9-1.
Defensive action was crucial again in this game - as always! Mac, Derrek, Brandon and Kaytlyn monitored the blue line and raced back when Local 1 managed a breakaway. A job well done by you guys & girl as you help make the goals happen too!
Logan once again held his own between the pipes. A few times Local 1 managed to get to him before our defense, but he didn't give them an inch. Way to go, you rock!
We managed to get January 9th off :)....but....rest up team as we have our tournament in Harriston tomorrow January 10th. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going and play our very best. Local 1 will also be attending this tournament, so we look forward to seeing them there too.
