Novice Rep Win Zurich Tourney
Submitted By Lori Stevens on Wednesday, December 30, 2009
There was no question about it - the novice rep team travelled to Zurich determined to come away winners.

The Ice dogs were assisted greatly by two affiliate players - Liam and Owen, who contributed much toward the victories.  The Caminator played three strong games in net, and, with some great saves in the third game, was able to shut the door to maintain a shut-out.  All players played well, and made great contributions towards the final victory.
Their first game was against the South Huron red team.  The Ice Dogs started off strong and never lost their momentum, as they captured the win 7-3.  Brawny Braeden helped out on defense, and did an amazing job clearing the puck and keeping it in the South Huron Zone.  Goals were scored by Sniper Sam (4)  Spanky, the Calebrator, and Ominous Owen (G)., with assists going to Ominous, the Calebrator, Brawny, Lively Liam and the Matt-Mobile.
Their second game was against Port Stanley, who made a game of it until the third period, when the Ice Dog Show began.  Sniper's shots saw the back of the net 7 times, while The Zach-Attack registered 2, and Spanky and Lively each notched one.  With lots of great passing, assists went to Brawny (3), Ominous (2), Jake the Snake, the Matt-Mobile and the Mack-Man, as the Dogs cruised to an 11-3 victory.
In the A -final, the Ice Dogs prepared to meet Thamesford.  While the Ice Dogs dominated the game from the beginning, there was some concern about the amount of time they had to play short-handed.  Hitting the scoreboard in the 5-0 victory was Sniper (4), and Lively Liam, with assists going to Spanky, Goin' Owen and Brawny.
Strong defense by the team of Luke the Lookout, the Matt-Mobile, the Zach-Attack, Goin-Owen and Brawny Braeden was one key piece of the puzzle in capturing the tournament win.  The other key piece was the amount of teamwork shown by the Dogs.  Every player contributed to the tournament win, making parents and fans proud of the character shown by the team.  WAY TO GO BOYS!!!
