Speak Out! / Respect in Sport [RIS]
Prevention Services Program [PRS]
ALL Team Officials [Coaches, Trainers, Managers] in the OMHA must have a minimum of Speak Out! [PRS] or Respect in Sport [RIS] certification in addition to all other certification appropriate to their position. All participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age to attend a Speak Out! clinic. All Association Executives and Parents are also strongly encouraged to attend the program.
OMHA Announces Partnership with Respect in Sport to provide On-line Speak Out! Certification
The OMHA is committed to the prevention of abuse, bullying and harassment, and the education of our membership. To that end, the OMHA has partnered with Respect Group Inc. in piloting the offering of Speak Out! certification as an online e-learning option to our Members.
Respect in Sport is a grassroots online program that supports sport organizations in creating a safe environment for all participants. As a delivery partner of the Canadian Red Cross, Respect in Sport provides interactive internet-based training in abuse, bullying and harassment education and prevention.
With online Speak Out e-learning and certification through Respect in Sport, the OMHA offers another option to OMHA Members seeking this certification. This option will allow participants to complete the certification at a time and place that is convenient to them. The program is also allows participants to complete the certification in segments, over a maximum 30-day time period, thus providing additional flexibility.
Respect in Sport online e-learning will also be linked to the Hockey Canada Registry [HCR], ensuring successful OMHA participant certification will be uploaded to the HCR upon completion.
