2011-2012 Atom Rep - The Atom Rep Play Mt Forest for Round 2 of OMHA Playoffs
Submitted By Dennis Gionet on Sunday, February 19, 2012
It has been a very busy and exciting week for the Atom Rep Icedogs!  They played their first WOAA game against Seaforth last Saturday and have played three OMHA playoff games against Mt Forest within the same week.

Their game last Saturday was a very good game to see.  We brought our two wonderful affiliates, Caleb D. and Brandon J., who helped us out a great deal.   Seaforth was able to score four goals within the first two periods, leaving the Icedogs at zero.  However in the third period, BCH seemed to pick up their game and Jaden C. was able to put one away, assisted by McKenzie S.  The Icedogs' final goal for this game was scored by Zach V., assisted by our affiliate Brandon J.  Seaforth was able to score one more after that, putting the score at 5-2 for them.  Once again, Logan, you did your best to stay on top of those goals!

Our first OMHA playoff game against Mt Forest was played in Mt Forest this past Tuesday night.  The teams were both coming on with full force and unfortunately BCH was unable to score any goals.  Mt Forest scored three goals, leaving the final score at 3-0 for them.  However, the Icedogs played really well and definitely gave the crowd something interesting to watch.  They were able to keep the scores at bay until the third period.  Our defense did an outstanding job and also Logan B. stopped upwards of 30 shots!  Way to go Dogs!

Our second game against Mt Forest was last Thursday night in Clinton.  We seemed to be more aggressive and wanted to win.  The lone goal for BCH was scored by Liam D., assisted by Zach V.  The Rams were able to score four goals in total, leaving the score at 4-1 for them.  We played hard and didn't give up once.  We seem to have become a very determined team and that makes for great hockey games to watch.

Our third game was played last evening in Clinton.  Wow.....what an intense game!!!  The crowd was very excited!  The Icedogs came out to win this game and so did the Rams!  BCH was able to score the first goal, scored by Liam D., assisted by Spencer C. and Zach V.  This only made Mt Forest try harder and minutes later were able to tie the game.  In the second period the game got more intense for sure.  Mt Forest would score again with only minutes left in the second period, putting them in the lead at 2-1.  Instead of giving up, BCH came on full force.  Our defense was everywhere and wouldn't seem to let the Rams away with anything!  Our forwards were skating fast and hard and never gave up.  With under two minutes left in the game, BCH was able to tie the game, with Liam D. putting one away off the rebound shot of Zach V.  Way to be in the exact spots you needed to be boys.  The crowd was roaring and the Icedogs were getting just as excited to have the game tied at 2-2.  Less than 20 seconds later this next goal deserves very special mention.....Owen O., unassisted, was able to score a beautiful goal.  This goal literally had the crowd on their feet and brought the Midget Rep team out of their change rooms to celebrate.  Way to go Owen O.!!!!!!  The Icedogs just had to keep the Rams away from the net for a little over a minute to clinch the win and they were able to get the job done!  WAY TO GO DOGS!!!!

As always, and especially within these last few games, our defense did OUTSTANDING!  Owen O., Jake F., Luke D. Zach V. and Owen G. deserve much appreciation.  The games wouldn't have ended nearly as close if the defense hadn't been very vigilant in stopping the many plays that these teams tried to execute!  They are always where they are supposed to be and have become very strong.  Likewise, Logan B., has taken many, many shots and was able to keep them to a minimum.  You are an excellent goalie, Logan!

And to finish it off, our forwards have been skating really hard and have become very aggressive in getting what they want!  Payton K., McKenzie s., Jaden C., Spencer C., Liam D., Owen G. and Zach V. have improved a great deal in the past couple of months.

We face off against Mt Forest again in Mt Forest on Wednesday night.  We've seen you do it, we know you can do it, so GO DOGS GO!!!
