2011-2012 Atom Local #1 - ICEDOGS PREVAIL IN BATTLE OF DOGS
Submitted By Rob Dupee on Sunday, February 05, 2012
Early Saturday morning was a battle of the dogs in Hensall, as Blyth/Brussels Bulldogs paid a visit. These two teams had not met since the 1st game of the season. Once again BCH played a strong team game coming out with a 8 - 0 victory.

The game began with both teams testing out the other teams goalie a few times before BCH's Ethan M opened the scoring for the home side. About 3 minutes later Caleb D staked the Icedogs to a 2 - 0 lead with a shot to the back of the net. The goal had hardly been put on the scoreboard when Caleb D dented the twine upping BCH's lead to 3-0. The period would end that way.

The first half of period 2 was scoreless until Caleb D completed his natural hat trick with help from Ryan V and Tayler M. The Icedogs and Bulldogs battled it out until the dying minutes of period 2 when Ethan M buried another one from Brayden T(our hardworking affiliate)and Liam S. Period 2 ended 5-0 in favour of the Icedogs.

BCH wasted no time opening the score in period 3 when Ryan V banged home a rebound assisted by line mates Liam S and Caleb D .  About 3 minutes later Ryan V would bag his second of the  game from Mitchell D and Caleb D. On the very next shift Ethan M proved going to the net is never a bad thing as he pounced on a rebound of a Brodie G shot completing his hat trick. The final score was 8-0 for the Icedogs .

Coach Stoll would have been very happy with the complete team effort put forth by his team in his absence. There was alot of nice passing, forechecking and backchecking in this game by the Icedogs. Kai E and Alex G(our other strong affiliate) shared the shutout. The defence Mitchell D(probably your best game), Tayler M (rock solid again),Brodie G(strong on the wall all game) and Kyle D(showed no rust after a vacation) were a wall on the back end taking the bite out of the Bulldogs attack. Our forwards of Ethan M(another strong effort), Ryan V(went to net with stick down), Liam S(strong in all 3 zones), Mac S( went to net hard), Vanessa L(stronger every game), Brayden T( looked like seasoned veteran out there) and Caleb D( another strong all around game).

This was a complete team effort to finish the regular season and prepared us for the long playoff grind ahead.

GREAT TEAM EFFORT!!!      GO DOGS GO!!!!
