Novice Local 2 - Overtime needed to decide the winner
Submitted By Nancy Huber on Wednesday, March 03, 2010
Novice Local 2 have wrapped up their two game series against BCH Local 1, with the need for overtime to determine the second game winner.

The first game was played on February 23rd, and proved to be an easy win for Local 2.

The game started out fairly close as Liam D (unassisted.....and on one of his famous breakaways) & Jaden (assisted by Liam D.) put Local 2 on the board.  Local 1 also scored in the first.  The period ended with a score of 2-1.

In the second period, Local 2 ran away with the game.  Goals were scored by Colton, Liam D(2), and Ethan, as   Derrek, Jaden, Reece & Brandon were credited with the assists.  Local 1 managed to score one more goal in this period, but the score was now 6-2 for us.  With one more period to go, we could almost smell victory.

The third period allowed for our usual suspects to score.  Liam D was assisted by Reece, Ethan assisted by Brandon and Jaden assisted by Ethan.  Local 1 tried hard but just couldn't get the puck into our net.

This game ended 9-2 for Local 2.

The second game in this series turned out to be quite a nail bitter.  It was played on March 2nd in Bayfield.

I'd say this game had a whole lot more action, but far fewer goals were scored.  It was a well played game and the score reflects that.

Local 1 came on strong this time around and scored the first two goals of the game.  The first period came and went - with a score of 2-0 for Local 1.  This was very surprising as Local 2 has not trailed in many games this year.

Period two was about playing catch up...........

Liam D assisted by Reece was the first to score for Local 2.  Not far behind, Jaden was assisted by Ethan and Colton, to score goal number two.

The game was tied up now, so things were heating up.

In the third period it was anyone's game.  Both teams charged into the opposition's territory with the puck.  Both goalies were working their tail off to save some amazing shots.   The action was intense and the crowd was getting louder, as they cheered for their favourite players.

This period ended with the score still tied.  So.....we went into overtime.

Talk about nerve wracking......but Local 2 continued to play a solid game of hockey.  The passing of the puck was awesome, and the team work was amazing.

Local 2 managed to score first, and the game was finally over.

Once again it was a great game to watch with lots of shots on both goalies, and so many near misses!

Great work everyone.

Local 2 now faces Mitchell in their last set of the playoff's.

Go Ice Dogs....you can do it!
