09-10 Midget Local - We needed some Luck Now
Submitted By Eric Armstrong on Sunday, February 07, 2010
After the humiliating defeat Against Teeswater we sure didn’t want to do that again. However for some reason we did, not really sure why. Prior to game everyone was so quiet, no one said a word. I guess we must have assumed we’d win this game because we beat Lucknow 7-1 in a tournament 2 weeks ago. However we had no more motivation, we got the hawks, we didn’t have a perfect season any more, and it was still seasonal play. Still we need to play hard so we would be ready for play offs.

The game started off alright, we were passing but nothing would drop in the net. Big E missed two easy goals, the dreaded one timer. Oh well we didn’t have many penalties like last game so that was good. Lucknow got the first goal of the game. Tough break but oh well, we were still in the game. We got another penalty near the end of the period, but killed it with success.
We needed a wake up call but nothing was working. Terry was threatening to shorten the bench if we didn’t step it up. Minutes into the second period Lucknow scored again making the score 2-0. We took another penalty this time but this time we couldn’t kill it and we were down 3-0. Not really a good sign. On the Penalty kill Diesel moved up the red line and shot a Howizter, with the puck dropping over the goalies shoulder. 3-1. We really needed that goal. The period ended 3-1.
In the dressing room we were told “Look this is the same team from the Tournament, however we are not the same team. This goalie isn’t even good. Diesel scored from the Red line. Sure it was a hell of a shot, and a hell of a drop but still, just keep shooting as they are not that good. What’s going on? There is no cheering on the bench. Teebs makes a good save and nothing happens on the bench, get in the game and let’s go.” Some close calls happened, but nothing would go onto the board until there was just 5 minutes left. Durrer picked a up a rebound in front of the net scoring to make the score 3-2. So close. Our power lines went on and they were given a penalty with 2:43 left on the clock. I know we could have come back. I just now it. I was warning everyone on the bench that we didn’t have that much time, and the time just dropped right down. 45 seconds were left but still nothing. The buzzer rang, with final score of 3-2 Lucknow.

This was our last regular season game. We will pull it back together for playoffs
